Hurricane Helene Relief

Recent devastation in Northeast Tennessee and the surrounding region has led to an inspiring outreach of community support and resources. Please find resources listed below including low cost and free therapy services for those affected.

This is my local community and I am heartbroken to see the damage to property and human life. I live and work in Northeast Tennessee but I was incredibly fortunate in the limited impact my immediate circle of friends and family experienced. Much of this community was not so lucky but the amount of community support I have witnessed reminds us that love and compassion are not a lost art in humanity. Thank you to everyone in this region donating whatever you can to support those who have experienced this terrible trauma.

It is normal to have many feelings related to a catastrophic event including grief, sadness, anger, and many others. Be sure to seek help to explore and process the unseen wounds that are so common in these situations. I will personally be offering 5 free sessions to any new clients affected by the storm. I have limited availability for new clients but will be expanding hours some to accommodate as many people as I can. Our local therapist collective has a directory of therapists offering therapy services to those affected and many of these services are free or low cost. We are also working together to offer several ongoing support groups to the the local communities and I will share those links as soon as I have more details. Please share these resources with anyone who might need them or take advantage of them yourself. Here is the link to the request form for a therapist providing services through the collective or you can view the directory of therapists here.

Take care of yourselves and be kind ❤

My name is Liza McFarland. I’m a licensed professional counselor and I focus on issues related to self-image and identity. This area is close to my heart because I've spent most of my life dealing with weight, self-compassion, and identity issues. I had no idea where I belonged. I still struggle sometimes but have learned to give myself the space to stumble and grow as I go. Join me in feeling liberated to be whoever you are… and learn to love the quirks. As a licensed therapist, I love helping people understand themselves and grow as individuals. As a toddler mom and wife, I like to have fun with my family anywhere outside. As an individual, I practice yoga, do a plethora of crafts, read and watch sci-fi, and generally try to goof off every chance I get.
